Investments In The Promising Companies Across Industries

Rural India is marching ahead due to better farm productivity, greater access to markets & information with mobile & cheap internet, electricity availability, access to financial services and markets. The importance of rural economy is evident from the fact that market experts now regularly look forward to monsoon predictions as much as their counterparts in fields.

Mahatma Gandhi said that the”Soul of India lives in its village”. Today, rural economy represents 67% of India’s population contributing ~45% to India’s GDP where Agriculture alone accounts for 15% of India’s GDP. Hence any growth in rural economy will lead to tremendous growth of overall economy. Government’s increased focus on rural development along with technological advancements has resulted in higher farm and non- farm productivity. This would further lead to rise in rural income and subsequently consumption which will act as a catalyst for the growth of the overall economy.

Multiple government initiatives like MNREGA Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme, Higher Minimum Support Price, and easy access to credit have led to rise in rural farm and non farm income. Bank’s rural reach has increased 9 times in last 7years whereas the average Kisan credit amount has also doubled in the same tenure. Increased govt spending on schemes like Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, have resulted in better infrastructure and employment in rural sector. The current Budget of 2018 has continued the earlier focus and allocated Rs. 14 lakh crores to improve the rural livelihood.
