Access India's evolving growth story through index-linked solutions covering large, mid, small and micro-cap stocks across sectors, with the flexibility to invest through two different routes:

The Growing Breadth of India’s Equity Market

  • An expansive equity opportunity

India is ranked as the 5th largest stock market globally, home to a large pool of listed companies across all market segments & sectors.

  • India’s growth engine is getting stronger

India is currently the fastest growing major economy with its nominal GDP per capita ($) doubling between 2010 and 2025. As disposable incomes increase and consumption patterns evolve, opportunities spread across a broader set of businesses, market segments, themes and sectors, making a strong case for wide participation in domestic equities.

  • But wider choice brings a familiar question

Indian equity markets offer a wealth of opportunities ranging from broad based funds, individual stocks, thematic schemes, factor-based strategies, etc. This leads to the equity investor’s dilemma of asking for a single investment that can offer diversification benefits across themes, sectors, market segments & investment styles while simultaneously eliminating the hassle of choosing one fund from multiple options & reducing fund manager bias.

  • Two index linked products for the broad market coverage

The Aditya Birla Sun Life BSE Total Market ETF & the Aditya Birla Sun Life BSE Total Market Index fund solve the investor’s queries by focusing on stocks within the large, mid, small & micro cap market segments across 22 sectors. The schemes track the BSE Total Market TRI which covers ~93% of India’s total full market capitalization.

The BSE Total Market Index is a broad-based equity index designed to represent a large part of India’s listed equity market. It covers large, mid, small and micro cap companies across sectors, weighted by free float market capitalisation. The index is rebalanced twice a year, in June and December.

A BSE Total Market Index Fund seeks to replicate the performance of the BSE Total Market TRI by investing in the securities that form part of the index. The portfolio is managed passively and changes in line with the underlying index, subject to tracking error.

A BSE Total Market ETF also seeks to track the BSE Total Market TRI, but its units are traded on the stock exchange like shares. Investors can buy or sell units during market hours through a demat and trading account.

It offers broad exposure to companies across market-cap segments and sectors through a single investment. This allows investors to participate in a wider part of India’s equity market through a single, diversified, rules-based approach.

Investors should consider their investment horizon, risk appetite and overall asset allocation before investing. Choose the index fund if you prefer SIPs and investing without a demat account. Choose the ETF if you have a demat account and want to trade on the exchange.

The index provides exposure across market-cap segments and multiple sectors through a single index, offering broader participation in India's equity market.

Yes. Investors can invest in the BSE Total Market Index Fund through SIP, subject to the applicable scheme terms and conditions.

Both are passive investment options tracking the BSE Total Market TRI and provide exposure across large, mid, small and micro-cap segments. The Index Fund follows the mutual fund route, while the ETF is traded on the stock exchange.

Mutual Fund investments are subject to market risks, read all scheme related documents carefully.
