ABSL Equity fund is a diversified equity fund that typically invests in stocks across market capitalizations, sectors and styles of investment. As per the mandate of the fund, fund manager invests in the large, mid and small-cap companies. In fact, this freedom to invest across market segment is one of the advantages of these funds. And this is where this fund works like a football team. As you would know, a football team has strikers, forwards, defence and mid-field players. Depending on the conditions of the game and the strategy, the coach would decide whether to use more defenders to play a defensive game or use forwards to frustrate the opposition with an attacking game. Fund manager also uses these different categories in a similar fashion while managing ABSL Equity Fund. If he feels, small and midcap stocks are poised for big times, he would decide to buy them more and play an attacking game. Similarly, if he feels that the valuations in small-cap and midcap stocks are hitting sky high and the risky game is not going to pay off, he would deploy the defenders – large-cap stocks and play a defensive game.
The scheme would adopt a top-down and bottom-up approach of investing and will aim at being diversified across various sectors and market capitalizations. The investment emphasis of the scheme would be on identifying companies with sound corporate managements and prospects of good future growth. The Fund Benchmark is S&P BSE 200 TRI.
