Tax Applicability

Investment held for less than 12 months

Short Term Capital Gain Tax would be applicable. Any gains/profits would be taxed at 20% (plus applicable surcharge and 4% cess).

Investment held for more than 12 months

Long Term Capital Gain Tax would be applicable. Gains/profits more than Rs. 1.25 lakh would be taxed at 12.5% without indexation (plus applicable surcharge and 4% cess).
