Highlights

  • Regular income with capital growth over medium to long term
  • Dual benefit through growth potential of equity

Inflation Adjusted Returns

India has witnessed high inflation in recent past, and so returns from traditional fixed income instruments have typically not been able to beat the inflation. If an investor can’t get a rate of return better than inflation, the money starts losing its value. Therefore, it is important for investors to invest in an instrument that can at least help provide inflation-beating returns. In this backdrop, monthly income plan (MIP) comes in handy for investors. Its concept originates from the need for higher returns to conservative investors. The MIP product relies on small dosages of equities in a predominantly debt portfolio to provide the returns a growth kicker.

How Wealth 25 is different

The Wealth 25 variant of Birla Sun Life MIP II addresses the needs of investors with a moderate risk profile. With a moderate level of risk, and a small increase in the amount of equity investments, to the tune of 20-30%, it can generate an above-average and inflation-beating return. The fund seeks to provide regular income with an opportunity to grow money through fixed income investments and a limited exposure to the equity markets. Since inception in 2004, year on year, this fund has been able to beat its benchmark on most occasions.

Discipline

The Fund invests in various debt securities and money market instruments issued by corporates and/or state and central government. With the aim of controlling risks, rigorous indepth credit evaluation of the instruments proposed to be invested in is carried out by the Investment Team of the AMC. The credit evaluation includes a study of the operating environment of the company, the past track record as well as the future prospects of the issuer, the short as well as long-term financial health of the issuer. The AMC is also guided by the ratings of rating agencies such as CRISIL, CARE and ICRA or any other rating agency as approved by the regulators.
