SDLs are high quality debt instruments with quasi sovereign rating. These instruments offer low credit risk coupled with the predictability of returns and low investing costs that come with target maturity based passive investing.

    • This fund is a good means to capitalise on current high interest rates and lock them in for a long-term duration .

    • The fund is suited for a long term, up to the maturity date of June 30, 2032.

    Fund discipline

    • The Scheme invests a minimum of 95% (up to 100%) of its net assets into instruments forming part of CRISIL IBX SDL Index- June 2032

    • Up to 5% may also be invested in cash and debt/money market instruments for liquidity purposes.

    • SDLs are debt securities issued by state governments to fund their budgetary requirements. Being backed by the state governments, they tend to enjoy near sovereign rating.

    • In the index construction, 10 most liquid state issuers with a minimum total outstanding of INR 14,000 crores and maturing within the eligible period will be selected. Weights to the issuers will be divided equally.

    • The scheme follows a passive investing strategy tracking the underlying index. The Scheme will follow Buy and Hold investment strategy in which existing bonds will be sought to be held till maturity.

    Tax Applicability

    For any investments after March 31, 2023, and redeemed anytime after April 1, 2025, irrespective of holding period the same will be taxed at slab rate
    For any investments purchased prior to April 1, 2023 & redeemed anytime after April 1, 2025
    - Investments held upto 24 months will be classified under Short term capital gains with applicable tax rates at income slab rate
    - Investments held for more than 24 months will be classified under Long term Capital Gains with applicable tax rates at 12.5% without indexation benefits
